Immersive VIP installation, OASIIS Private Art Exhibition.
Created as the centrepiece of the private OASIIS exhibition at Dragon’s Den Residence, the triptych explored what could happen when an artwork was allowed to move beyond the wall and begin shaping the atmosphere of an entire room.
At its heart was a large-scale triptych of light-reactive abstract works, integrated with a custom UV lighting system. Under changing illumination, the paintings shifted dramatically, revealing forms and colours that remained hidden under ordinary light. What initially appeared as a feature wall gradually opened into something more expansive, almost like a window into another environment. The work rewarded movement and curiosity; the longer guests spent with it, the more it revealed.
That sense of discovery became central to the evening. Rather than remaining a backdrop to the event, the display became a destination within it. Guests gathered around the installation, returned to it throughout the night and shared the changing experience across social media. Attended by property developers, architects, designers, politicians and other public figures, OASIIS also placed the work in front of an audience already thinking deeply about architecture, place and the way environments influence people.
The project became an important early demonstration of an idea that would continue to shape Tommy’s practice: art can do more than occupy a space. It can alter the way that space is perceived, remembered and experienced.
It was a great example of how painting, illumination and architecture can operate as one composition. The artwork was no longer simply something to look at. It became the reason to enter the room, linger there and look again.
